Its Not What We Do, It's How We Do It!

How to choose the perfect paint color?

When it comes to decorating, choosing the right paint color or the best painter can really become a challenge. There are so many choices, you may think you’re bound to find the perfect one, but instead you may end up feeling you don’t know where to start. To help you in the quest for the right paint color, take note of the following advice.

1. Be patient.
Dependabel painting contractor in Lexington KYThe key to finding the right color for your room is to start with a room scheme. Paint is available in an infinite array of colors and is the most versatile element of your room decor, the least expensive and the easiest to change. Gather ideas but take the final decision after wallpaper, rugs, and fabrics are finalized.

2.Decorating samples.
When you go shopping, carry information about your fabric, carpets, tile, wallpaper and trim samples. This will make you visualize the color harmony between your future wall paint and objects in the room, before assigning a painter to apply the color.

3. Study the colors
Even if you’re not considering using a darker tone, look at the full color strip. You may find clues about the underlying tones of different shades for a color. Decide in which family of colors your favorite one is situated.

4. Color’s formula.
Follow these simple steps in order to learn to mix colors and fabrics and how to repeat color through the room. They will help you explain to the painting contractor all the details related to your room’s paint, and will ensure a job well done.
– choose a style (formal or casual);
– choose a theme (techno modern, English garden or American country);
– pick up a mid-toned color from your fabric (flooring, furniture pieces);
– choose a brighter color based on your picture mats, pillows and upholstery.
– Divide color use to approximately 60% of the room in the background color, 30% in the mid-tone color, and 10% in the brightest colors;

5. Trim it out.
In most cases, a painting contractor will suggest a shade of white or off-white for the moldings, windows and doors, but if you’re feeling brave, consider the palest shade of color to coordinate with the walls. It will give a really striking look to the room.

6. Paint finish.
You’ll have to decide about the paint finish for the project. Flat or matte finishes will hide the wall’s imperfections, while glossier finishes will reflect more light. A true painter will help make the right decision based on the quality of the walls and the number of windows the room has.

It is highly recommended hiring a painting contractor, way before choosing the color. A company like Central Kentucky Painting can give you a lot of advice based on over 24 years of experience.
